My family moved into a new house in Nagoya, Japan. The first week was all chaos, as we were still unpacking boxes, rearranging furniture, etc. On the first floor, there was a long hallway that led from the front door to the kitchen. One afternoon, as I was walking down the hallway, I felt a sudden urge to turn and look behind me. I was startled to see a tall man in the shape of a featureless black shadow moving down the hallway close behind me.
As he moved along the hallway, he seemed to radiate a small aura of darkness around him, casting a shadow in all directions. blotting out the light on the floor, the walls and the ceiling in a murky circle around him as he moved along the passageway. I stepped into a doorway and watched him hurry past me until he disappeared out of sight at the other end of the hallway.
I really didn’t know what to think about what I had seen, but it wasn’t the first time I had encountered a ghostly presence, and I didn’t get any really bad feeling from the Shadow Man, so I chose to ignore it. Maybe I was just too tired from moving, and I was seeing things that weren’t there.
The next day, I was resting on the sofa on the second floor with my wife after a hard day of unpacking. Out of the blue, she turned to me and said, “Have you seen the Shadow Man!” Then she told me she had seen him walking along the hallway downstairs. I told her that I had seen the same guy in the same place earlier that same day. After discussing it a while, we both decided that neither of us had sensed anything malignant about the Shadow Man, so we just decided to let things be.
Two days later, I was climbing up the stairs to the second floor when I met the Shadow Man coming down the stairs toward me. This time he seemed very aware of my presence, as he halted and stood still in front of me. Even though I couldn’t make out any features on his face, I could feel a sense of shock and fear coming from him. He turned and fled up the stairs, moving away from me as fast as he could. We have been in the house for 3 years since then, and no one has encountered the Shadow Man again. I’m not sure what it was about me that frightened the Shadow Man, but evidently it was enough to drive him from our house.
I’d like to know, have any of you had the experience where you met a ghost and YOU scared the wits out of him?
