10050 Cielo Drive, Los Angeles, CA.

This estate is the site of the Manson family murders where Manson and four others broke in, killed actress Sharon Tate, her hairstylist and three other people. Manson’s only orders were to “Make it as gruesome as you can” in which his followers did by horrifically mutilating the victims. Tate pled for the life of her unborn child but the family stabbed her sixteen times before painting pig in blood on the door and leaving. Nine-inch-Nails lead singer Trent Reznor once occupied the house and took the door with him when he left. No ghost sightings on the premises but strange voices and footsteps were heard on the construction of a nearby house as well as cold winds.

112 Ocean Avenue, Amityville, NY.

Originally built in the 1920s by John Moynahan, it was the DeFeo family is the reason that the house makes our list. Ronald “Butch” DeFeo, Jr. killed his parents and four siblings under the influence of a dark presence. A year later, the Lutz family moved in and discovered that the DeFeo family hadn’t really moved out yet. While Father Mancuso was blessing the house, he heard demonic voices, Mrs. Lutz felt a ghostly embrace, and Mr. Lutz found a secret room in the basement while their daughter Jodie found a demonic pig to hang around. Strange odors, weird slime, and cloven footprints all haunted the Lutz’s in their 28 days stay in the house. Famous Demonologists Ed and Lorraine Warren reportedly took a picture of a demon boy while at the house.

4500 Arthur Kill Road, Staten Island, NY.

Balthasar Kreischer was a German businessman who had two identical houses built in 1885 over the course of a decade. The houses were built for his sons who both died, one from suicide and one from one of the houses burning down. The house that still stood was vacant until it was purchased and turned into a restaurant/mob front then left vacant again under the watchful eye of Marinee Joseph Young. Young was hired to kill Robert McKelvey by the Bonanno crime family. He took out his task by strangling, stabbing, and drowning McKelvey before dismembering and burning the body in the furnace on the grounds of the mansion. Rumors speculate various hauntings by the Krieshcer’s including a ghostly woman being seen in the windows.
