The Headless Priest

21 December 2018 | Haunted locations, Your Stories, Your True Encounters

It happened at the San Sebastian Cathedral Church. Its a cathedral, which was dedicated to Saint Sebastian in 1686 and it was the year 1987 when I was just 13 years old and performing as a sexton wearing those long white robes (cassock) We assist the priest on saying the holy mass.

It was 6:00 AM and my time to assist at the service as a sexton. I was summoned then by my senior sexton to go to the priest room to get the prayer book that the priest forgot to bring. Through the darkness of the room in only a slight blink of light I saw this figure and it was a headless priest wearing his cassock. I rushed out of the room and I told my fellow sexton that I had seen a headless priest. Then an older sexton explained to me that it’s common to see the headless priest there!

A story is in fact, told to describe the origin of this headless priest. It is said that the headless priest is from the Spanish era long ago when our country was colonized by the Spaniards.
