The Stay Over

10 June 2019 | Haunted houses, Your Stories, Your True Encounters

Back in 1976, when I was 12, we lived in Lismore NSW Australia and my mother went to visit my sister in New Zealand. Returning to Brisbane, she had my two older brothers and myself drive up to Brisbane to meet up and stay at a friend’s place who we have known for 10 years at the time. They had only just moved into this house from across the road two weeks before we arrived. We all went to bed and my brother and myself had to share a double bed in a closed in Verandah that was up against the wall closest to the street with windows behind and beside the bed. Around 2 or 3am for some strange reason, I woke up, and saw a lady around 40 years old and glowing white wearing a white to cream coloured dress standing down the other end of the closed in Verandah looking at me. I sat up a bit, then she bent down and looked at a small cupboard to her left and then stood up looking back at me. I turned to my right and looked out the window and saw the street and street lights for about 7 seconds and knew I was awake by now, so I looked back at her then she did the same thing two more times. By now, you know when you get the electric cold shivers through your body? Well, triple that. Of course, I nearly crapped my self, dove under the blankets and weirdly enough, I was asleep in less than 10 seconds.

In the morning I looked into the small cupboard and saw an old Bible and a crucifix along with other old books and being 12 thought well ok this is different. She was so peaceful and beautiful that I have never been scared of any bumps in the night since that night …
