The Ghost of my Grandfather

26 July 2019 | Your Stories, Your True Encounters

I will tell you a mysterious story, which I experienced when my grandfather died. When I was 14-years old, my dear grandfather passed away because of cancer. I was very sad and depressed, because I liked him very much. He really loved us kids. He was always kind and funny.

My family went to Kanazawa where he lived to attend his funeral and we stayed at my grandparents’ house a couple of days. The day before the funeral, I saw my grandfather’s body. He was lying down on a futon, like he was sleeping quietly without breathing. I clearly remember that his face was peaceful but very white. I burst into tears because I could never talk to him again.

After coming back to the house, I took a nap on the bed which grandfather used to use. My mother was watching TV in the next room. After about one hour had passed, suddenly my body was tied down by something. I couldn’t move and even lost my voice, so I couldn’t call out for my mom’s help. I was being choked and was very scared. I could only move my neck and eyes.

I looked around the room as much as I could, but nothing was there. Then I timidly looked to my right and saw grandfather! He was standing by the bed, but he said nothing. I thought he smiled at me. Soon he faded away; suddenly I was free from the binding. I ran to my mom and told her what had happened. She said he wanted to see me before he was cremated. Although I was very scared at the time, I was glad to have seen him one last time.

In conclusion, I think that when people die or are in critical condition, something happens which cannot be proved scientifically. In this case, he or she might strongly want to tell something to you. — Aoi Goto
