The Demon that Held me Down

11 September 2019 | Old hag, Your Stories, Your True Encounters

I woke up one morning at 5:30 to my alarm clock going off. I wasn’t ready to face the day yet, so I rolled to left so I could reach the clock and hit snooze. As I turned, I felt my blanket catch on something, like when another person is sitting on the blankets and the blankets won’t budge. Immediately after feeling the blanket catch, SOMETHING flipped me onto my back and sat on my chest. I could feel my arms being held down next to my head. I couldn’t move at all. My mom was asleep in the next room. I tried to scream for her, but couldn’t make any noise. I could feel my tongue moving in my mouth, trying to scream, but no sound would come out, only a slight whisper of air. It was horrifying. The only thing I could think to do was to call on Jesus Christ for help. I screamed His name in my mind (again, I couldn’t make a sound). As I finished saying His name, the invisible weight crushing my chest and holding my arms in place was gone. Just… gone. I immediately jumped out of bed and ran to the light switch. Looking at the alarm clock, I saw it was 5:33. Exactly 3 minutes had passed since first waking up and encountering this presence. Even though 3 minutes is NOT enough time to fall back asleep and have such a vivid dream, I could understand some skeptics saying it was just that, a dream. Except for one other thing. The very next thing I did was grab my cell phone and scroll through my contacts to my grandmother’s number. She was a devout Christian, and I wanted her to tell me what to do after this attack. As soon as I pressed SEND, my phone screen turned black, and never turned on again. It was fully charged, having charged all night, so it wasn’t dead. After carrying it to a technician, even they couldn’t tell me what was wrong with my phone. I truly believed I was attacked by a demon that morning, and that it destroyed my phone because it didn’t want me to ask for help from my Christian grandmother.
