The Unseen Dishwasher

30 December 2019 | Haunted locations, Your Stories

For 30 years I was a 911 dispatcher. You know the person who answers the phone when you call 911 and yell and scream at to make someone get there faster.. even though emergency personnel are driving as fast as they can?

The building that I worked in the past 26 years was haunted by who/what we don’t know, but almost everybody that has worked there has had some type of experience. I mainly worked the graveyard shift, aptly named if you ask me. I enjoyed it because of

1. for the variety of calls you got and
2. I didn’t have to deal with the brass.

So onto my story. I was working the graveyard shift a couple of years ago. The dispatch center had 6 cubicles where you couldn’t see the person working across from you. if you wanted to talk to them you had to roll your chair away from your console and vice versa. The swing shift people, it was around 3:00 am had all gone home and it was just me and my partner. All was quiet and we were just visiting, she was working on something while I was reading a book. Eventually we both became engrossed in what we were doing and quit talking. About 4 am I heard someone in our kitchen doing the dishes. I yelled to my partner that if she was doing her dishes she might was well do mine. I jumped when her voice came from her side of the partition telling me that it wasn’t her and she thought I was in there. The next we heard were dishes being thrown violently around, then everything was quiet. We both stood up and looked at each other. Both daring the first to go into the kitchen haha!

We both walked in together and nothing. Nothing was out of place .. and the dirty dishes that had been in the sink were well … still dirty. Both of us agreed that we heard something but I can tell you 7 am couldn’t come fast enough
