When I finished grade-school in 1998, my parents decided that I should go to a high school in the nearest city. The city is Iloilo city, in the Philippines. It was 4 hours by car from our little town of Estancia. My mom found an all-girls boarding house which is a mile away from Iloilo National high school. This house was a newly restored and remodeled old Spanish house. (There are a lot of preserved Spanish houses in the Philippines because Spain colonized the Philippines for over 300 years, so it’s common for these houses to be used for business.) It was a 2 story house with a staircase that is outside the first floor, and a terrace on the second floor. The downstairs was used for the owners real estate business office and the upstairs consisting of 7 rooms was the all-girls boardinghouse. The first two rooms have access to the terrace and this 2 rooms are connected by a Jack and Jill small bathroom. I rented the smaller room, and 3 other girls were renting the other bigger room. When you go out of our rooms, you’ll see the other rooms on each side of a wide hallway with a family size dining table in the middle, and a big kitchen with a huge window looking over Lopez Mansion. I and my board mates had a lot of paranormal experiences in this house but for now, I will just share mine.
It was Valentine’s Day, on a Saturday night; it was just me and my board mate Leah, because the rest of the girls either went home to their hometowns or went out on a date. We both decided to sleep in my room, and started getting ready for bed. I was brushing my teeth inside the Jack and Jill bathroom, with the other door closed with a barrel bolt lock and the other door on the side of my room open, while Leah was tidying up the bed, she suddenly teased me and said “What are you going to do if there’s a ghost there?!” then all of a sudden the lock of the closed bathroom door moved as if an invisible person went and opened it, then the door slammed open and slammed back shut! Like somebody got mad and wanted to be out of there. We were both stunned, I didn’t even finish brushing my teeth, and I hurriedly closed my side of the bathroom door. We both prayed, and were silent for at least 15 mins. Then Leah decided we need to check if the ghost is still with us. Then she blurted out “if you are still here please knock twice.” After a few seconds we heard 2 knocks. That was my first paranormal encounter.
