I was 18 at the time this happened in 1980. I lived out in the country where there were ditches and canals on both sides of the road and no street lights. I was heading home about midnight and felt real sleepy, but thought if I opened the windows and let the air hit my face it would help and the next thing I know I am in a ditch. I remember it was next to an orange orchard and remember my family saying never stop there at night because people camp out in there.
So there I am crawling out of my car and the ditch and I noticed a house with a porch light on. I headed towards that and all of a sudden I see headlights pop on out of nowhere. I get back down in the ditch so they won’t see me and he stopped right where I was. I was scared to say the least but he was in a white truck and I remember he wore a white turban with a white outfit and of all things besides that he had a half of a watermelon in the seat next to him with a fork sticking out of it with a salt shaker next to it. I kept thinking “that’s how I eat my watermelon”.
At first I started walking and said I will go call my mom and dad and he said I am here to help you and take you home. I know I had a concussion because my head was hurting and I was fuzzy. I said no again and he insisted. He knew God and was here to help! I didn’t know what was going on because I was in shock from the wreck. I said ok, I will get in but I’m keeping the door open. In my mind, I was ready to run in case, well I look back now and remember he never even asked me where I live yet took me right to my house.
I don’t remember talking at all. He met my brother and then my mom and dad and they shook his hand and said thank you. Well, the next day I was still kinda out of it and my brother runs in my room and tells me the man that brought me home was on the news saying he was found at the foot of a mountain and had approximately been dead for a week,…..
I still get chills when I think of how God helped me and how He most likely knew if I tried walking home, I may have been kidnapped and killed, thanks for letting me tell my story.
