I have lived it the same house since 1996, and it was built in 1987. Fast forward to 2006. Myself, my husband and our to kids lived a regular family life. No strange activity in our house, until the eventful day. It was evening and I was with my daughter in the kitchen, we turned off the lights and made our way to the staircase to go upstairs. I turn the corner and there was a solid black figure standing at the bottom of the stairs. I let out a scream and my daughter asked “what’s wrong mommy?”, I replied “nothing, I just scared myself in the dark” because I didn’t want to freak her out.
A month goes by and my son comes home from University. He turns to me and says “What the hell is wrong with this house?, first I see a full black figure on the staircase and then half the figure, only from the waist up”. I was like”OMG! I saw him too!” We were freaked out because we didn’t understand what was going on. I went out and bought sage, we saged the house, said prayers, and we’re not even religious people.
A couple of years go by and we hadn’t seen the black figure even though we were having strange things happening, like pictures falling off walls, crystal bowl falling off the shelf, doors slamming on their own and me having sleep paralysis where I was lying on my stomach and my face was pushed into the pillow. A couple of years later when my daughter was around 13 years old she came into my room and told me that she wasn’t going to sleep in her room because there was something in there. I told her not to be ridiculous and to prove that there was nothing in her room, I would sleep with her that night. I was lying facing my daughter and she was between me and the wall. In the middle of the night I woke up with the feeling that someone was leaning on my arm. All of a sudden a male raspy deep voice whispered in my ear “Can you hear me?”. I was so freaked out that I didn’t dare turn around to look. I just started telling whatever it was telepathically that it was not welcome in my home and needed to leave, I also started saying The Lord’s Prayer. The next morning my daughter says “See! I was right! I woke up in the middle of the night and there was a black figure standing right beside you!” I told her it was probably her imagination because I didn’t want to scare her. It took about a year before I told her my experience because I wanted her to feel validated.
We went on a vacation and asked my sister and brother-in-law to come and house sit. When we got back from vacation there was a snow globe on my fireplace mantle with the words “Bless This House”. I started laughing and asked my sister in law why she had purchased it. Her reply was that my brother-in-law had seen a black figure in our bedroom and she had heard a child call “mommy”. They were convinced that the house was haunted.
My son grew up, got married and he and his wife stayed with us for a couple of months until their house closed. She’s a nurse and very level headed. She says to me “I woke up in the middle of the night and there was a black mist floating over the bed and then fingers tapping on the night stand”, she said she refused to stay alone in the finished basement, so if my son was away on business she would go to her parent’s place.
In 2019 my daughter was home and I was in my room reading a book and my husband was also reading. All of a sudden I see a black mist come up through the floor and then back down into the floor. I rubbed my eyes thinking maybe my eyes were playing tricks on me. All of a sudden my daughter comes into the room and says “You’re not going to believe what I just saw!?” I smiled because I had a feeling I knew what she was going to say. She proceeds to tell us that she had just walked into the bathroom and the black figure was just standing there.
It’s obvious that he’s still here and every so often makes himself known. We don’t know who he is. He’s allowed to stay, as long as he doesn’t whisper in my ear at night or scare us half to death. Unfortunately we have never taken a picture of him.
