Ghost Writer

15 December 2015 | December 2015

Here is something submitted to the site that is a bit different. A ghost encounter that resulted in a song……

The song was inspired by an experience I had in Gloucester Place, London a few years ago. In the night, I was taken very ill and I was ‘visited’ by a beautiful, sophisticated young Victorian woman who had been an author during her life. Naturally I was terrified, firstly by the appearance of a ghost and secondly by the fact she had come to help me over to the other side. She regarded me as a kindred spirit and persuaded me that death and the next life are nothing to be afraid of. If I wanted to let go then all I had to do was to take her hand, and she would guide me through to the next world. After what felt like a couple of hours in the company of this charming, sweet character, my fever lifted and slowly she began to vanish with the onset of morning. I’m extremely grateful to her for helping me in my struggle to survive and I am sure we will meet again – hopefully, in many, many years’ time!

Here are the lyrics….

Ghost writer, ghost writer, ghost writer.

You’re the silent haze. It’s strange how your shadow strays
Though you’ve gone to a better place.
I pretend that I didn’t see you, you know I do.
Ghost writer, ghost writer, ghost writer.

You’re my secret fear – so beguiling and so sincere
With your warm whisperings in my ears.
I pretend that I didn’t hear you, you know I do.
Ghost writer, ghost writer, ghost writer.

I don’t know if I can go all the way to the other side with you.
But in the end what is life anyway? Are we both shadows in the room?

So erase my name with my worries and all my pain,
But if morning should rise again I’ll deny that I ever loved you, you know I will.
Ghost writer, ghost writer, ghost writer.

I don’t know if I can go all the way to the other side with you.
But in the end what is life and anyway we’re all just shadows in the room.

So erase my name with my memories and all my shame
But if morning should rise again I’ll deny that I ever loved you, you know I will.
Ghost writer, ghost writer, ghost writer.

Ghost writer, ghost writer, ghost writer.

    1. What a good story and nice inspiration! Yet, she might not have been there “to beguile” you,but to lure you to the other world for a new company. Had dawn come a little late, you could have gone to the other world with her, and you would have left a world of sorrow to your family, while you followed her to the new world-be it good or bad!
