Calke Abbey: Visited there a few years ago and had a strange experience. In one of the big staterooms you get to, whilst standing by a fireplace, I suddenly became aware, as I looked down to the floor, I was where a very fine, cornflower blue, crinoline style dress – I could feel myself wearing it and I could hear it “swooshing” as I moved. When I was a kid we used to visit family in another part of town. I knew all the kids around so would often go on my own for the afternoon. On my way back from visiting a friend I took a shortcut. I was just googling around and found some coverage for the FIRST book based on reviews from Tripadvisor. Published in mid-2020, the book is a collection of reviews of haunted experiences of people staying hotels as found in Tripadvisor reviews? Really? Well, that makes me a little angry because, in fact, I published the FIRST book of Tripadvisor reviews called Motel Hell – Strange Reviews of Haunted Hotels back in 2018! The other night, I found myself suddenly wide awake at just after 3 am. I awoke with a jump and figured I had had a bad dream. After calming myself I rolled over and closed my eyes to go to sleep again. But as I did so, I caught sight of a reflection in my wardrobe mirror of a darkened figure. I shot bolt upright. He said he prayed to still be here when I had the baby and he was. He passed away 2 months later. Fast forward 3 years and my daughter was playing in her bedroom having a tea party. One afternoon in 2003, my 8 years old daughter was playing with her dolls out on our front porch when suddenly a young girl around the age of 15 years old was standing in front of her. The strangest thing that happened to me was when I was growing up in Tennessee. My mother was ill and out of work and we lived in a very old house near Knoxville. I told him about 6-weeks before that if he was having someone check out the house, that I would come back. Just to make sure they were legit.
