My grandmother was very sick for a long time. I remember her talking about how she was ready to die, not in a depressed way, just in a way that she had come to terms with her illness and was tired of being miserable. My Strange Music Box

I have an antique music box ( I collect them). The music box sits in my china hutch. My Grandma and I were extremely close, and I lost her in June of 1978. The music box is white satin and has an antique doll in it, and mirror and plays Somewhere my Love – which is a song that my Grandma used to sing to me. Only in the last 5-years has this music box started playing a few strands of this song each year on her birthday, which is June 13th, and I will smell a whiff of her favorite perfume which was Tabu. I had never believed in or experienced the paranormal until I spent a night at the Rydges Hotel in Hobart. This was 15 years ago and I still get goose bumps when I think about it. As a seasoned business traveller, I’ve slept in over 1000 hotel/motel rooms in over 20 countries over the last 20 years. Never had a problem getting to sleep, even in a noisy room. My Mom and Dad both lived in Ohio; divorced, so separate residences. I live in Arizona. Dad called one morning to tell me that Mom had passed away; massive heart attack, and was gone in an instant. I was blindsided, as I spoke with her the day before, and she sounded fine. Got off the phone with Dad, crying like crazy, and decided just to go out for a walk for a couple of minutes to clear my head. Eight years ago I moved out of my parents house with a boyfriend twenty five minutes north into a house that used to be a boys home. I didn’t know about that while I lived there. In the early 2000s, a friend of mine moved to into an old house with some other college friends in Milwaukee. There were not enough bedrooms in the house, so he turned the attic into a huge bedroom and art studio. It was a great room to play guitar, write poems on the wall and paint the windows. Sometime in 1981, I was leaving Seoul, Korea, where I was stationed with the 501st Military Intelligence Battalion and coming home for a brief vacation with my parents in Sacramento. After this vacation, I would be leaving for an OPFOR (Opposing Forces) unit in Fort Knox, Kentucky. During this small vacation, I hooked up with an Army buddy of mine named Wayne Johnson and we headed up to Mount Hood, Oregon. We were both fans of Stanley Kubrick/Stephen King’s The Shining.
