Irish priest asks for back-up as demand for exorcisms rises ‘exponentially’

29 January 2018 | January 2018, Your Stories

An Irish priest and exorcist is asking the country’s bishops for more support after noticing a dramatic increase in demonic activity in the country. In a recent interview with The Irish Catholic, Fr. Pat Collins said he has been overwhelmed with the number of requests for exorcisms from the faithful in Ireland. In an open letter, he has urged the Irish bishops to train more priests to deal with the demand. “(I)t’s only in recent years that the demand has risen exponentially,” Collins told The Irish Catholic. Collins’ comments are on par with those of other exorcists throughout the world, including the International Association of Exorcists (IAE), a group of 400 Catholic leaders and priests, which has reported a dramatic increase in demonic activity in recent years. In 2014, the

The Hag Who Haunts A British Haunted House

27 January 2018 | January 2018, Your Stories

This is the terrifying moment a brave volunteer was filmed in Britain’s ‘most haunted house’ – and appeared to turn into a witch. Paranormal investigator Brad Mac was astonished to see a colleague of his – known only as Debbie – ‘transform’ into the hag while he and five others spent the night at The Cage, in St Osyth village in Essex. The property served as a prison for those convicted of witchcraft in the Elizabethan era. And Debbie certainly seemed to channel its witchy history as hidden camera footage shows her changing in front of our very eyes: her nose becomes strangely pointed, her eyes darken, with a malevolent glint – and her mouth seems to stretch into a ‘Joker-like’ grimace. Littel Sailor Boy

26 January 2018 | Haunted locations, Your Stories, Your True Encounters

On a hot sunny summer morning, halfway up the mountainside, opposite the Macbeth arms near Alford in Aberdeenshire, a small boy dressed in Victorian sailor suite came skipping along past me. He looked a real. Except that he was sort of lit up, kind of glowing, and so clean. He passed between a co worker and myself. I couldn’t break my gaze and just stood there gob struck. The lad wasn’t touching the ground and effortlessly swept past. Where had he come from?. There’s nothing but empty mountain for miles above us. Where was he going?. It’s along way to the road. He was way to young to be out here on his own. Did you see that? Charlie. The lad had passed between us. I asked my co-worker. See what?

Abe, Harry Truman, Winston Churchill And The Ghosts That Haunt The White House

26 January 2018 | Your Stories

On a lonely night in 1946, President Harry S. Truman went to bed at 9 p.m. About six hours later, he heard it. Knock. Knock. Knock. The sound against his bedroom door awakened him, he wrote to his wife in a letter that is archived in his presidential library and museum. “I jumped up and put on my bathrobe, opened the door, and no one there,” he wrote. “Went out and looked up and down the hall, looked in your room and Margie’s. Still no one. Went back to bed after locking the doors and there were footsteps in your room whose door I’d left open. Jumped and looked and no one there! The damned place is haunted sure as shootin’. Secret Service said not even a watchman was up here

The Rocking Chair

25 January 2018 | Haunted houses, Your Stories, Your True Encounters

So this isn’t very long, but I was at my mum’s friends house and was staying the night and before I went to bed I was sitting on this big, super heavy rocking chair. At about 3.30 am, I woke up to a huge thump and went to investigate and the rocking chair that was in the living room the night before was in the 2nd spare bedroom and then I felt something brush past me so I turned around and standing there was a young boy. He waved at me and then vanished. Submitted by Samantha Bradley

The Thing That Follows Her

24 January 2018 | Demons, Your Stories, Your True Encounters

I am part of a group that meets at a new age style business, recently another woman had joined the group, from the beginning, I could not warm to her. She seriously creeped me out, but I kept my feelings to myself. Before too long others started voicing the same opinions. Couldn’t put my finger on it, was it the creepy grin she often had, the way she tried elevating herself above the group, or what? One night after our meeting, we were chatting in the gift shop area of the business when she walked through, I glanced up in time to catch sight of a crouched figure in one of the aisles, it was bald with long limbs, it reminded of Gollum. Its skin was grey, blotchy and looked

Haunted Places You’d Never Want To Visit…

23 January 2018 | Your Stories

What is it about a location that makes it haunted? A gruesome murder? A bloody historical event? Drama? Intrigue? In this world there are many places that reputedly give people chills… this article is all about those places. Read on if you dare… 1. St. George’s Church Located in the Czech Republic, St. George’s Church is a beautiful monument that’s fallen into disrepair. As the paint started to peel and the windows fell out, the local city council wanted someone to do something with the building. Artist Jakub Hadrava had a bizarre idea: He’d fill up the pews with ghosts. There’s not really a grand artistic statement, by the way. Hadrava simply decided to make this church into one of the creepiest places on the planet. He received a commission on

Haunted Fiddletown

22 January 2018 | Haunted locations, Your Stories, Your True Encounters

Something draws me and my wife Deanna Jaxine Stinson to Fiddletown. We received all kinds of reports of haunted activity at Fiddletown. But, you are probably wondering where is Fiddletown? Fiddletown is about 45 minutes away from Sacramento, close to the town of Jackson, CA. Fiddletown was settled in 1849 by Missourians who came to California because of the California Gold Rush. Fiddletown had its share of mining camps and trading centers. In the 1860 census, the Chinese community in Fiddletown was up to 2000. Fiddletown got its name because of Dry Creek. Dry Creek would run dry in the Summer months and the miners basically didn’t work in the Summertime, because they had no water from Dry Creek. People would say they just fiddled around, henceforth was born the

The Cursed Chair of Thomas Busby

19 January 2018 | January 2018, Your Stories

Can a chair be cursed? If you visit the small jewel of a museum in Thirsk you will see the rather strange sight of an oak chair hung from the ceiling in one of the display areas. The chair was suspended at the explicit request of its owner to prevent anyone from ever sitting on it including maintenance and cleaner. The museum has never broken its promise in over 30 years despite numerous requests and even the threat of legal action. Local legend has it that the chair belonged to Thomas Busby, a thug, thief and drunkard who lived in North Yorkshire in the latter part of the 1600s. Busby married Elizabeth, the daughter of a small time petty crock, Daniel Awety who lived near the village of Kirby Wiske. Awety had

This Man Kept Calling His Loved Ones… Even Though He’d Been Dead For Hours…

19 January 2018 | Your Stories

Mysterious phone calls from the dead make for excellent horror movie plots, but this eerie phenomenon also happens in real life. Many stories of unexplained phone calls show that they’re not just the result of grief-stricken imaginings. Although people try to explain these odd occurrences by blaming malfunctioning cell phone technology, reports of phantom phone calls go back to at least 1967. Charles E. Peck’s Metrolink death is one of the most prominent and creepy stories about phone calls from dead people since author Dean Koontz’s deceased mother phoned to give him a warning. Peck was killed instantly in a horrible 2008 Metrolink commercial train accident, but before anyone knew he was dead, his family members received 35 calls from his phone for several hours following the disaster. Whether it was due to phone damage or the train rider reaching out from

The Phoenix Poltergeist

30 December 2017 | Ghosts in the news, Poltergeist, Your Stories, Your True Encounters

A word scrawled on the bathroom wall in Hebrew – translated into English it says DANGER! That was the beginning of a truly paranormal Christmas for a family in Phoenix, AZ this year. Next, things began to move around in the kitchen and the family awoke to find all of the cupboards and drawers open. Then both bathrooms flooded. “For the past few days our house that my grandfather, aunt, two cousins and myself have been living in has been ‘acting up,’ ” Rudy Calderon wrote on his Facebook on Christmas Eve. “We have been hearing noises, objects appear out of nowhere, they move around and yesterday all of our kitchen cabinets were left open. All doors were locked so no one could have gotten in and we tried to

Is Someone There?

19 December 2017 | Haunted houses, Your Stories, Your True Encounters

Sometimes it is not what you can see but what you cannot see that makes a huge impact. When I was young my family moved around a lot. Every few years we would pack up and move to another house, always in the hope that the next move would be the last and that we could set roots one day. Living in South Africa, we also had a lot of dogs for protection, these poor animals would also need to pick up roots every few years and follow us around, not that they seemed to mind all that much. On this particular occasion we had moved to a new home that was close to my school. Usually, in order for us to make the move a little easier we would

Spirit Activity Bothers Guests at The Green Lobster Hotel in Prague

18 December 2017 | Haunted houses, Haunted locations, Your Stories, Your True Encounters

In searching for other ghost stories during my research for a book on the paranormal in the Czech Republic, I came across a rather remarkable review of a Prague hotel in Trip advisor. The Residence Green Lobster is a luxury four-star hotel in Prague 1. It got the following 5-star review on TripAdvisor.com in 2011. My wife and I stayed at the wonderful Green lobster hotel and we had the first suite on the first floor. The suite was amazing and more than comfortable, we have to say by far the best hotel we have stayed at in our trips to Prague. However we did believe there was a little bit of spiritual activity in the suite to keep us both entertained. Both my wife and I struggle to believe
