The Ghost in Our House

07 March 2019 | Haunted houses, Your Stories, Your True Encounters

It’s been going on for a few months now. My wife and kids would say have you noticed anything weird going on?  I said “No why?” My wife said, “I’ve been seeing things out the corner of my eye and hearing noises coming from the storage room.” Of course, me being me, I said: “It’s just your imagination.” A few days passed and my youngest son came to me and said: “Dad, something scratched me.” So then I thought maybe I need to go check out the storage room. So I did and I found nothing but I thought to make my son feel better I’d say “Hey whoever is here needs to stop bothering my family” I said, “There son, nothing will bother you again.” But for me on

The Prop Body was Real!

06 March 2019 | Your Stories, Your True Encounters

Did you ever watch the Six Million Dollar Man on TV? Back in 1976, for an episode called the ‘Carnival of Spies’, the crew were readying the Nu-Pike amusement park in Long Beach, CA. The director saw a corpse prop hanging from a rope in the corner of the set – shot in a funhouse – and didn’t like it so asked for it to be removed.  When a crew member tried to remove the prop body, its arm came off revealing mummified flesh and bone! The set suddenly became a potential crime scene and medical examiners were called. They managed to find a 1924 penny and ticket to the Museum of Crime in LA in the body’s mouth and were able to identify the body as that of outlaw

The Mystery Caller

04 March 2019 | Audible Activity, Your Stories, Your True Encounters

One lady had just recently moved into a new house. She got a phone call from an old lady who advised her not to use the gas oven until it had been looked at. When asked for an identity, the caller simply said, “Your landlord knows who I am.” The lady had the oven checked and found it to be faulty and actually very dangerous. Naturally, she wanted to reward the caller who had warned her and assumed it was someone associated with the landlord. She contacted the landlord and explained what had happened. The landlord went very quiet before telling her that previous occupants of the home regularly had had strange calls from an old lady offering advice as well.  The lady in question was actually the long-dead original

The Eye

04 March 2019 | Haunted houses, Your Stories, Your True Encounters

Not had many submissions recently (do submit your stories!!), so I went in search of stories on the net and found this one…. certainly I thought it creepy. One time, I was lying in bed and it was about 1 am. I heard someone walking down the hallway right outside my room and then my door started to creak open. I thought it was my stepfather, since he usually messes with me like that, and the door stopped after a couple of inches. Through the crack, I could see an eye staring right back at me. I shouted to him that I could see him and I thought at that point he would give up messing with me. After that, the door slammed shut and there were loud footsteps down

The House

01 March 2019 | Haunted houses, Your Stories, Your True Encounters

I have read many supposedly true horror/mystery stories over the years and many taking place in old abandoned places, so I decided it was time to share mine. Unlike most “true” stories, I can assure with my entire being that everything and every detail is not only completely true, but the events are still discussed often amongst myself and those friends who also witnessed firsthand the following events, they still haunt us today and maybe someone out there has a better explanation of what we exactly witnessed… I grew up in a small town in central New Jersey only a few miles from both the bay to the north and the ocean to the east. What most people forget when they think of New Jersey today, is that it’s actually

Kids that see Sparkles….

28 February 2019 | Your Stories, Your True Encounters

I’m not a writer, and this will not be that long, but this is about something that used to happen to me quite often as a child. Like most kids, I had an occasional nightmare. I would run to my parent’s room and they would allow me to sleep with them for the rest of the night. Some of my most vivid memories are from these nights. This happened between the ages of approximately 3 and 7. I would crawl into my parent’s bed and wait for the sparkles to appear. That was what I called them. They were all different colors and about the size of a large piece of glitter. They appeared to give off their own light. They would usually come from the corner of the room

Currently in an Air BnB…spooky things

28 February 2019 | Haunted houses, Your Stories, Your True Encounters

My latest book is Motel Hell. It’s a collection of reviews and tales of Hotel and Motel hauntings many taken from places like Trip Advisor. I’m really interested in hotel experiences still and I found this one on Reddit this morning….. Air BnB in Iceland and quite creepy (Its edited for readability). Staying in Iceland for 2 weeks in an Air Bnb, the host couple are great and can’t do enough and you can tell they have incorporated hipster tastes in to their design of the basement converted studio – a huge portrait of a crying child, sticky labels in the wall “welcome to the dungeon, smile”, a fake trap door, proper rustic decor – not my taste, but 2 weeks is fine. Anyway, both I and my partner wake

The Man from The Nightmare

27 February 2019 | Your Stories, Your True Encounters

“My mother always complained that she had a lot of nightmares, but she would never say what her dreams were about. One day while we were at the mall, I suggested that she wait in the food court while I was getting our food. When I returned with our meals, she had a strange look on her face, so I asked her if she was okay. She said she was fine, so we finished our meals and left. As we were riding down the escalator to leave, I turned to talk to my mother, and I almost had a heart attack because standing behind her was a man in old-fashioned clothing holding one of my mother’s shoulders and looking at me with a very angry expression. She saw the shock on my

A Black-Eyed Kid Ghost?

26 February 2019 | Black Eyed Kids, Your Stories, Your True Encounters

I am a paranormal investigator with Grand Rapids Ghost Hunters and have been for seven years. Last week, for the first time ever, we were told of an apparition living in a bedroom walk-in closet with no arms or legs and black eyes. The only one who sees the entity is a three-year-old little girl. We have recorded voices of a child and have reason to believe the ghost child named “Addy” is four years old. The black eyes are alarming and our team’s first encounter with a black-eyed ghost.   ~Submitted by Wayne Thomas

The Shadow in the Darkness

25 February 2019 | Haunted locations, Your Stories, Your True Encounters

In line with my last book – Motel Hell – I remain interested in hotel hauntings and experiences. I found this experience on Reddit. When I was 15 I traveled to Europe with my family. We stayed in Ettal, Germany in a small inn for a few nights. My parents had a double on the second floor, my sisters had the double bedroom next to theirs, and I was lucky enough to have a single room all to myself at the far end of the hall. When we went to check in to our rooms, as soon as I entered the hallway our rooms were in, I remember almost feeling as though I walked into a ‘wall’ of… bad energy? I just felt so unnerved and uneasy in that hallway,

The Entity that Set Fire to Our Home

24 February 2019 | Haunted houses, Your Stories, Your True Encounters

I’ve heard fists pounding on my bedroom door, only to open up and find no one there. When I was crashing on my dad’s couch one summer, he woke in the middle of the night and saw a translucent woman hovering above my sleeping body. Then there was that weird entity in my college apartment that took milk jugs out of the trash can and tossed them across the room. But for some reason, I still didn’t believe in ghosts. Until I met Florence. That’s what my future wife and her sister called the thing that lived with them on West Side. It would flush the toilet at random times, send alarm clocks blaring at 3 a.m. and stomp around the bedrooms of their townhouse apartment when no one else was

The Lost Boy

21 February 2019 | Haunted houses, Your Stories, Your True Encounters

I have always been tuned in to the paranormal. Telling ghost stories to my friends for a laugh. But it has been something I struggled with for as long as I can remember. The experiences I’ve had with the paranormal weren’t all good either. This particular story I am about to tell always intrigued me because the boy I saw just seemed lonely and lost. It was 2010 and I had just turned 14. My sister, mother and I were moving to a new house. I didnt see the house untill the day we moved in, but even as we pulled up into the drive I told my mum this house is haunted. She looked at me and laughed and told me I was silly. It wasnt scary to look

Summoning Jack the Ripper – Bad Idea?

20 February 2019 | Haunted houses, ouiji boards, Your Stories, Your True Encounters

“I was at a slumber party in 8th grade with a few of my friends when we decided (stupidly) to have a seance in her unfinished basement. We were having fun and giggling as we were trying to figure out who to summon when someone suggested Jack the Ripper (a serial killer from the late 1800’s) and I immediately got a pit in my stomach. “No,” I spoke up, “we shouldn’t summon something evil.” “That’s right,” called a MAN’S VOICE from the other side of the cellar. (!!!!) There were no boys or men there (we were home alone). Another girl and I heard it. I’ll never be the same.” Abby

It sounded Like A Child

19 February 2019 | Haunted houses, Your Stories, Your True Encounters

Even journalists experience the paranormal it seems…….   When I was in my mid-20s I worked at a newspaper in upstate New York along the Pennsylvania border. This was exactly the kind of place that inspired Washington Irving to write the “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow,” with its terrifying headless horseman, a Hessian soldier forever looking for the head he lost in the Revolutionary War. In fact, there were a few graves of real Hessian soldiers scattered among the ancient cemeteries there. The landscape was rugged hills and dark hollows. Small railroad towns and secluded farms dotted winding river valleys. I arrived in early October and moved into a huge red brick carriage house that had been converted to a garage and apartments, tucked away behind a Victorian mansion on a

Stranger in the Photo

19 February 2019 | Your Stories, Your True Encounters

My 3-year-old son was trying to take a picture of me. He didn’t realize the camera was backward. He took several photos within seconds of each other. I grabbed the camera back when he was done and started erasing the photos to make space. The first two images were blurry duds. But when I got to the third picture, there was a startling face behind his. I’ve never seen this person in my life and we were the only two home.
