A Vampire Terrorized A Czech Village
12 September 2016 | Haunted locations, Vampires
In doing research for an upcoming book on the Czech Republic, I came across a vampire story…. In Ždár nad Sázavou, a Czech vampire once roamed. Alois Ulrich was an unkindly man and the administrator of the local castle estate. He treated his fellow humans with the same contempt that he had for animals. In his early 60’s, he contracted a strange disease and died. No one was particularly sad to see him pass away. He was buried in the lower churchyard. But Alois continued to terrorize his neighbors even in death as he was seen by many villagers both in the cemetery and standing on a local bridge. There was even a murder attributed to the dead Alois. The increasingly concerned and scared inhabitants called on a local landowner to

Halloween Nightmare
07 September 2016 | Haunted locations, Your Stories
In October of 1971, some friends of mine told me about the old Confederate cemetery across the river from Fort Smith, Arkansas, in the small town of Lavaca. Trying to frighten me, because I am from Michigan, they challenged me to go to the cemetery on Halloween night. With me driving and my friends giving me the directions, off we went to Lavaca to see the “ghosts” of the Civil War. The cemetery was right next to this small white church that we had to drive down a narrow lane between orchards to get to. There was a clock, on a timer in the steeple that gonged for every hour. That Halloween night, when the clock struck twelve, the clock gonged thirteen times not twelve. When I looked over to

Kutna Hora – The Remains of 50,000 People!
02 September 2016 | Haunted locations
In a town named Kutna Hora, here in the Czech Republic, there is a very famous ossuary that is said to contain the bones of between 40,000 and 70,000 people. The site, which is beneath the cemetery of the Church of All Saints just outside of Kutna Hora, is a very creepy visit. Four huge bell-shaped mounds of bones in each corner of the Chapel are accentuated by delightful human skeletal chandeliers hanging from the ceiling. There is even a coat of arms – all made from human skeletal remains, on the wall. The story behind how this came to be is fascinating. Back in 1278, a monk returned from the Holy Land with soil from Golgotha. This was spread in the cemetery making it a much wanted final destination

Could Your School Be Haunted? An Experience of the Paranormal From A Teacher
27 July 2016 | Creepy places, Haunted houses, Haunted locations, Your Stories
Ever since I qualified as a teacher I have been had some very interesting paranormal experiences inside school buildings. One building was reputed to be haunted by quite a few ghosts and there were a lot of cold spots—especially in the gym where a murder was said to have taken place. However, the story I am submitting today is rather strange. In this particular school, we usually had twenty to thirty students per class. My classroom that day was quite spacious for us and on my left were the door and narrow window. I had a few jokers in this class that day that kept on annoying each other, so while I was writing on the board, I was keeping an eye on their reflections, too. At first, I was

Unnerved by a Haunted Workplace!
19 July 2016 | Haunted locations
It was somewhere in the late 1990s or early 2000s and at that time, I was employed as an engineering manager. Where I worked there were three buildings each joined together by tunnels approximately 10 yards long. Each building held about 300 employees. I had an engineering team of about 11 men. One was a young man named Ian, who like myself had not worked there very long, only a matter of about six months. One day, I was in the boiler house when Ian came in and we just started a general chit chat. He asked did I believe in ghosts and then he began telling me a story of how not long after he had started to work for the company, he had been in the very boiler
