The White Figure in the Forest
11 December 2018 | Haunted locations, Your Stories, Your True Encounters
Back in 2010 in Abbotsford, British Columbia, Canada, my friend lived in a part of town that has a lot of forest area and his backyard was a good couple acres of forest with houses surrounded in the distance. Me and him would go and explore the forest all the time because it was quite mystical and just a cool place to wonder. This one night I and my friend went outside in his backyard at probably close to 1 am to go explore and there’s a steep cliff when you first walk in to the forest. When we were standing at the cliff before the pathway leading down to the rest of the forest I could see a tall white illuminated figure and it was in between two trees

Ghosts in Gettysburg
06 December 2018 | Haunted locations, Your Stories, Your True Encounters
Ever since I was young, I have loved ghost stories and American History. My parents loved it because it gave them the excuse to go to Gettysburg for family vacations. We ended up going twice, the first time I was 11 and the second time I was around 15. The first trip, we went on ghost tours and wanted to have an experience, but it was pretty uneventful. The second trip is when these stories take place. Our paranormal encounter was not necessarily terrifying or shocking in any way, instead, it’s several small experiences that made me a true believer in the paranormal. The second day we were there, my Dad and I decided to take a tour of Ginnie Wade’s house. She is the only civilian to have died

Haunted Psychosis
23 November 2018 | Haunted locations, Your Stories, Your True Encounters
I was born and raised in Louisiana. This state is well known for it’s colorful culture, divine cuisine, and of course, spooky history. As long as I can remember, pretty much everywhere we lived was either haunted, or several homes throughout neighborhood were. Abandoned schools, old factories, crumbling houses — practically everything was said to harbor one kind of spirit, demon, or other such boogins. We moved around a lot as my parents looked for work, but the place I call my “Home Town” is St. Francisville, Louisiana. This may sound familiar to those who follow the Haunted House scene, as this is the town where the legendary Myrtles Plantation resides. It’s been featured on Unsolved Mysteries, National Geographic, and various other “Haunt Hunter” shows. The National Geographic Explorer filming

More than just books in the Library
22 November 2018 | Haunted locations, Your Stories, Your True Encounters
Many years back, I worked security work in Sydney Australia. As often happens you do a lot of night work, along with the late hours and strange people at that time, comes the other worldly. I worked with a fellow guard and we got to discussing the buildings resident. After explaining that story to him, he then opened up about his time at the State Library of New South Wales. He told me of the night New Years Eve 2000, when sitting in the control room, he and another guard noticed a rather attractive young woman in period dress. Crossing the main yard. Which was gated and closed to the public. So they radioed the guard on patrol and dispatched him to the area to escort her out and to

The Phantom Door Knocker
16 November 2018 | Haunted locations, Your Stories, Your True Encounters
After working in a building, that was reportedly haunted, for 27-years, I will submit interesting stories on that building at a later date. I retired this summer and went to work part time for a different company. The company that I work for is right in the middle of farm land so I’m sure it has a lot of history. Right after I started working there, I was asked by a co worker if I believed in ghosts. I told her I did and she asked me if I had ever noticed anything weird that went on especially in the women’s rest room. I mentioned that I had heard water run and the hand towel dispenser go off when I was in there by myself, but had just put it

I Spent A Night in a Graveyard
02 November 2018 | Haunted locations, Your Stories, Your True Encounters
Well, kind of. We actually went on a series of nights, most recently Halloween, and that time I went alone. Why go to a glitzy, Hollywood-induced costume party when you can celebrate it the old-fashioned way with a good old ghost hunt? A proper stake-out with coffee and biscuits. We went armed with a torch, digital camera, voice recorder, and of course our own senses and judgment – probably the most important tool of all, but also the one most prone to error. Amateurish tech by proper ghost-hunting standards I know, but you have to start somewhere. As with my previous tale, this one comes from the Scottish town of Troon, specifically an old graveyard and church ruins on the outskirts called Crosbie Kirkyard. It dates back to 1681 but

The Phantom Gardener
29 September 2018 | Haunted locations, Your Stories
Five years ago I purchased a couple of 18th century houses built next to each other and surrounded by a lovely mature garden. The houses are on the outskirts of a picturesque village called St Dizier Leyrenne, which is located in the Limousin region of France. I purchased the houses with the intention of letting out as rural holiday homes (gites) and this is exactly what I have done. Soon after making my purchase, I spent some considerable time over one summer, renovating both the properties, and it is during this time that I first had a rather strange thing happen. Whilst fitting a new window overlooking the garden, I noticed a man in overalls and a straw hat, he was apparently tending to the flowers and shrubs, being intrigued,

The Dog That Wasn’t There
25 September 2018 | Haunted locations, Shadow people, Your Stories, Your True Encounters
In the English counties of Suffolk, Cambridgeshire and East Anglia they call the legendary ghostly black dog that is said to roam the countryside ‘black shuck’. Succa’ being the old English word for devil or fiend. But in Dorset where I live its better known as the ‘dark nonce’, nonce also being an old English world for a large, pre-neutered hound. But whatever term is used I wanted to tell you about the time i was camping near Raoul Castle in East Dorset and my encounter with a ghostly black dog. I liked camping on my own when i was younger but wouldn’t venture too far from where I lived. I had not long pitched my tent next to what in Medieval times would have been Raoul Moat when I

My boyfriend I were both doing jobs we hated, when we were offered the opportunity to manage a pub. We both had had previous experience and it seemed the perfect opportunity to make a fresh start. The pub was a large building situated in Shropshire; it had started life in the 1930’s as a church, then a social club and finally, a pub. A doorway behind the bar opened up into a narrow corridor: turn to the right and it led to the cellar stairs, turn left and you accessed the upstairs flat where we would live for the next year. At the top of the cellar stairs, was a bank of switches that controlled the lights for the whole ground floor. At close, we would take it in turns

Red Eyes Peer From the Forest

Since this incident happened more than 20 years ago in 1996, I had to consult with my best friend Crystal about the particular facts. I was a sophomore and she was a freshman in high school. That’s important since what happened to us happened on our high school campus. As we both had the same lunch period we ate lunch then decided to walk around the upper field as it was never used, and it was a nice day. I’m not sure if it’s never used because a student had committed suicide years prior (which actually happened to be a friend of my older sister) in the trees by the upper field or not. Anyway, I digress. As she and I were walking and talking about our different beliefs, (she’s

The Ghost of Jimmy Saville?
24 August 2018 | Haunted locations, Your Stories, Your True Encounters
I have never told anyone before this story as it still seems pretty unbelievable after all these years. When I lived in London in the 1980s, our regular pub was the Noggin’s Bonce in Peckham. It was a large pub with several rooms upstairs that they used to rent out for functions, wakes etc. I remember at the time that people used to take about strange things going on upstairs such as unexplained shadows, horrible smells and cold patches, but I always thought that these experiences were caused by people having one too many drinks and dismissed all the stories. Anyway one evening, I’d had one too many drinks and found myself going upstairs with my friends Rodney, Boycie, Trig, Del, my uncle Albert and the landlord Mike for a

La llorona
13 August 2018 | Haunted locations, Your Stories, Your True Encounters
Well to start off, my family is all from Mexico. We are from Durango Mexico and to be honest going to the little town we are from it’s always scary. No matter who you talk to They have one of the scariest stories You can imagine. In that little town we live in there’s witches, gnomes, but probably the most scary that almost everyone there especially the older people know is La Llorona. Or the weeping woman – she is a ghost or evil spirt that takes kids away if they are out at night so the parents say. That’s what we were told as kids until I personally experience it. I live in Gainesville Georgia, but we go visit Durango a lot. So the second day we were there

Creepy Hellfire Caves
20 July 2018 | G. Michael Vasey's Nightmare Corner, Haunted locations
On a recent visit to the UK, I was able to visit the Hellfire Caves. These were built by Francis Dashwood and were apparently used by his hellfire club for their activities. Whether these were black magic and satan worship or just a bunch of powerful rich guys mocking the establishment and getting drunk with local prostitutes, we may never actually know. But, the atmosphere in the caves made me feel nauseous and I had a headache for several hours after re-emerging. My sixth sense tells me that there is bad energy in those caves and that it was deliberately made that way. The entrance to the caves menaces like some gothic church out of a horror movie and, as you go down the caves, you are greeted by carvings

I see Dead People!

Yesterday’s post by Nick got me to thinking. When I was growing up, I saw ghosts all of the time. Later in life, I decided to go ahead and shut down that ability as far as possible. But what is it really like to see a ghost? Well, the first thing I would say is there is an atmosphere. It’s like an electrical storm is about to hit. You sense something – some energy – that is forming nearby. It makes the hair on the back of my head stand up on end and it gets my adrenaline flowing. Shortly after that, I used to develop fear. I knew, it knew and I was scared. I now believe that it is the fear that attracts such things and that this

They come across a woman walking along the side of the road and simply navigate around her. Then it gets really weird. As they continue around the twists and turns of the road, they meet the very same figure several more times until finally, the figure blocks their path and they make a hurried u turn and getaway.
